Greetings in Jesus’ Name

There are about 50 billion web pages on the Internet, yet the Lord has led you here – Welcome!

My name is Sherwin Jaleel, and I am the pastor of Hope Church Southampton. At university, I trained for a vocation in IT. However, a yearning to serve the Lord led me to Moorlands Bible College, where the Lord graciously enabled me to earn a master’s degree in Biblical theology. I was ordained in 2017. Guided by the Holy Spirit I have learnt that the nature of ministry is service, the motive of ministry is love, the measure of ministry is sacrifice and above all the model for ministry is Jesus Christ.

I grew up in India in a loving home with a Muslim father and a Christian mother and came to Faith in Christ when I was a teenager. Very early in my life, I witnessed the saving grace of the Lord, first-hand in my daddy’s life as Jesus drew my dad closer to Him. Time and again I have witnessed the Lord’s unfailing love and grace transforming lives. Two verses of Scripture sum up my call to ministry – Psalm 71:18 and Matthew 12:21.

I vividly remember the day when on my knees in prayer, the Lord impressed upon my heart His calling to declare to the next generation, His great power and might. Having experienced the Lord’s faithfulness, compassion, grace, and unfailing love in my own life, I realised the Lord was calling me to share this treasure with all those around. That call is the foundation of the Christ Our Hope ministry. Matthew 12:21, quoting Isaiah, makes known a coming time when all the nations will put their hope in Jesus. Taking this Biblical hope into the world and to the many lost souls is my vision for the Christ Our Hope Church.

I am married to Evelyn, and we have a daughter who is at university. I work in the IT industry (more here). When not preparing for Church, I’m improving my gardening skills, dabbling with the keyboard, writing my blogs (see here and here), or simply hanging out with my Church family. I hope to meet you in person soon, and together we can worship the Lord in prayer and fellowship.

Stay blessed, never lose hope – The Lord loves you no matter what.
